Feliz día el que supe de Django Reinhardt: al escucharlo sólo una vez, en un momento de sincera y dramática iluminación, ¡supe que no podría dejar de escucharlo nunca más!
Tal vez se conjugan en su música muchas condiciones que mi oído estaba esperando: jazz tradicional, arreglos simples, sonidos limpios, excelentes melodías, carismática improvisación (y sobre todo, un estilo tan notoriamente alejado del blues).
Para los que no lo conocen, su sonido de alguna manera evoca el jazz huachaca de Roberto Parra ("La Negra Ester"), y por extensión, aunque menos directamente, a Los Tres ("Quién es la que Viene Allí", "He Barrido el Sol"). (Interesante notar que el problema de la importación musical no es algo nuevo: ¿Qué duda podría caber que Parra tocaba a Reinhardt?)
En Youtube pueden encontrar algunas de sus canciones. Recomiendo When day is done (disculpen el video), My Serenade, o la clásica Georgia on my Mind.

John said this was one of his favorite songs, which is written (and played) largely by Paul. I have to admit I am sometimes a little bit prejudiced against Paul's songs, and it is true that most of my favorite Beatles' are indeed John's, but this one is really good. I am always on these stupids thoughts about which is the best Beatles' song, and who wrote it and etc... but it is the case that For No One qualifies among the best.

It is not only the beauty and elegance of the melody, but the lyrics are fantastic, something not that usual in Paul's, according to my taste. For No One's lyrics express so well how pathetic are the thoughts and feelings when not being loved anymore, the emptiness of every single detail in your life that otherwise was part of a whole, and so on...

It is obvious the influence of classical music in this particular song. I have read that Paul was really into listening various ways of music expression, including classics but also quite avant- garde kinds. John on the other hand was still more rock and roll and rhythm and blues staff. So sometimes I think what would have happened with John's compositions if he had been into classical staff as well, who knows...
